The Minnesota Timberwolves have indicated they will not be trading guard Donte DiVincenzo, despite a busy offseason expected to bring significant roster changes. The Athletic reported Thursday that DiVincenzo is considered a player the team values and intends to keep.
The Timberwolves are reportedly looking to add shooting and a power forward prior to the start of the 2026-27 season. This comes after the team acquired LaMelo Ball from the Charlotte Hornets in a trade that sent Naz Reid, a 2033 unprotected first-round pick, three first-round pick swaps (2028, 2029, 2030), and three second-round picks to Charlotte. Minnesota also traded Julius Randle to the Nets as a cost-cutting measure before the NBA draft.
DiVincenzo is currently recovering from an Achilles tear sustained during the playoffs, an injury that is expected to sideline him for a significant portion of the upcoming season. The team's commitment to his recovery has been a motivating factor for the guard.
"Just knowing that you’re being thought of, you’re loved, it helps you, it gives you the motivation to want to get back," DiVincenzo told The Athletic in May. "There’s nothing more that motivates me than trying to get in front of and play in front of our fans."
During the 82-game regular season, DiVincenzo averaged 12.2 points and 1.3 steals per game. He also contributed 10.8 points per game in the four playoff contests he participated in.
