Tiger Woods Eyes Full TGL Schedule in 2027, Teammate Says
Golfer's peer, Jason Kisner, indicates Woods aims for a complete return to competition following his DUI arrest and subsequent rehabilitation.
Tiger Woods is planning to compete in a full schedule for the TGL golf league in 2027, according to PGA Tour player Jason Kisner, a teammate and friend of Woods.
Kisner, who co-hosts the "Fore Play" podcast, revealed that Woods has expressed a desire to return to full-time competition following his arrest on charges of driving under the influence and a subsequent stint in rehabilitation.
"Tiger wants to play and then they wanted to sign Keith Mitchell, which is totally fine with me," Kisner said, referencing his own departure from the Jupiter Links TGL team. "It gives me a chance to hang out in January and February instead of flying back and forth to Palm Beach every Monday."
Kisner stated he received a detailed text message from Rob McNamara, Woods' longtime friend and business partner, outlining Woods' intentions. "Just telling me what they did on their decisions, how they were moving around and what players were going to do and that Tiger wanted to play a full schedule," Kisner explained.
Woods completed a rehabilitation program in Switzerland after his arrest in Florida on charges of driving under the influence and two other misdemeanors. He entered a plea agreement in September that reduced the charges.
Kisner also anticipates Woods participating in his annual Hero World Challenge and the PNC Championship, an event he has previously played with his son, Charlie.
"The way he was swinging and moving on the range, I mean, the guy loves to compete," Kisner added. "Come back, get your feet wet at the Hero, play with Charlie in the father-son, play some TGL [and] get ready for Augusta."
Woods' potential return to competitive play could also extend to The Masters in 2027, provided his recovery and preparation progress as planned.
In February, prior to his DUI arrest, Woods had returned to TGL play with Jupiter Links after recovering from back and Achilles rehabilitation. He was later involved in a single-vehicle rollover crash on Jupiter Island. During the arrest following the crash, Woods refused a urine test but a breathalyzer showed no alcohol in his system. Authorities found two hydrocodone pills on his person during a search at the scene.
