Texas Defensive Star Colin Simmons Carted Off With Injury
Simmons, a projected top NFL draft pick, sustained a lower leg injury during Saturday's game against Florida.
Texas edge rusher Colin Simmons was carted off the field with a lower leg injury during the Longhorns' game against Florida on Saturday.
Simmons, a 20-year-old standout defensive player, is widely considered one of the top prospects for the 2027 NFL draft, with projections placing him as a potential top-five pick.
The injury occurred early in the fourth quarter of the game in Austin. Simmons appeared to be hurt after being blocked by Florida tight end Lacota Dippre and offensive tackle Bryce Lovett. Trainers immediately attended to him on the field before he was moved to a cart and driven away.
At the time of the injury, the game was tied 17-17. ESPN's Jordan Rodgers described the sight as "scary" for Texas fans, noting Simmons' importance not just as one of the best defensive players in the country but as one of the best football players overall.
