Tadhg Furlong Cited for Alleged Groin Grab

Ireland and British & Irish Lions prop Tadhg Furlong has been cited for an alleged act of foul play involving grabbing an opponent's groin area, potentially leading to a lengthy ban. The incident occurred during Leinster's 24-18 victory over Munster in Dublin on Saturday.

Gavin Coombes of Munster alerted referee Andrew Brace to the alleged offense in the first half. However, the television match official could not find sufficient video evidence at the time, and Furlong was not immediately identified in connection with the claim.

On Monday, the United Rugby Championship (URC) issued a statement naming Furlong, 33, as being cited for an act contrary to good sportsmanship, specifically citing the rule against grabbing, twisting, or squeezing the genitals. The URC stated that disciplinary proceedings will be arranged in due course.

If found guilty, Furlong, a key player for Ireland, would likely miss the nation's November Test matches against Argentina, Fiji, and South Africa, as well as the finals weekend of the Nations Championship in London.
