Stevenson's Stunner: Patriots Running Back Scores 48-Yard Touchdown as First Half Ends

Rhamondre Stevenson of the New England Patriots scored a 48-yard touchdown as time expired in the first half against the Chicago Bears, narrowing Chicago's lead to 20-14. The play occurred on "Thursday Night Football" at Soldier Field.

With 14 seconds remaining before halftime, the Patriots took possession. After a 18-yard reception, the team was near midfield, setting up what appeared to be a Hail Mary attempt. Instead, quarterback Drake Maye completed a dump-off pass to Stevenson. Despite a low probability of scoring, Stevenson found an opening, benefited from blocking, and broke into the end zone as the clock ran out.

NextGenStats indicated that Stevenson had only a 4.3% chance of scoring once he received the ball on the play. The touchdown stunned the home crowd.

The game marked the Bears' first home game since the passing of former coach Mike Ditka, with the evening beginning with a moment of silence and fans receiving fake mustaches in his honor. The Patriots entered the game having won three consecutive contests.
