Steven Borden Hospitalized After Injury at AEW All Out
All Elite Wrestling star Steven Borden sustained a head injury during his pay-per-view debut and was taken to the hospital for evaluation.
Steven Borden, son of wrestling legend Sting, was hospitalized Saturday night following an injury sustained during his first All Elite Wrestling (AEW) pay-per-view appearance at the All Out event. Borden and his tag team partner Darby Allin were competing against Kevin Knight and Kyle Fletcher in a match to determine the No. 1 contenders for the AEW Tag Team Championship.
During the match, Borden and Knight attempted a high-risk maneuver from the turnbuckles that resulted in Borden appearing to hit the back of his head on the mat. The referee immediately stopped the match, and Knight and Fletcher were declared the winners. AEW broadcaster Tony Schiavone reported during the event that Borden was conscious and responsive before being transported to the hospital.
AEW owner Tony Khan provided an update in a post-event press conference, stating that Borden was awake and responsive at the hospital. Khan reported that CT scans and other tests had yielded positive results and expressed hope that Borden would be able to travel home soon. "Thankfully, Steven Borden (is) awake, responsive at the hospital. He had a CT scan and all the tests have come back good," Khan said. "So far, all good results and we are hopeful Steven is going to fly home tomorrow to his family."
Knight and Fletcher are now set to face The Young Bucks for the tag team titles. The Young Bucks won their championship opportunity in a separate three-way ladder match at the same event.
