Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy sustained an apparent ankle injury on his way to the locker room at halftime of the team's game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

McCarthy was heading to an interview with a CBS sideline reporter when he appeared to twist his ankle. He was assisted by a Steelers staffer and proceeded directly to the team's medical tent, where he remained for the entire halftime period.

While the team trailed the Buccaneers 13-3 at halftime, with the offense converting only one of six third-down opportunities, the specific adjustments made during the break were unclear as McCarthy, who also serves as the offensive play-caller, was unavailable.

McCarthy returned to the sideline at the start of the second half. The club informed CBS that he would continue to limp through the remainder of the game.
