Australia secured an innings and 51-run victory over Bangladesh in the second Test, leveling the series at 1-1. The win, achieved by tea on the second day in Mackay, was spearheaded by Mitchell Starc, who claimed 10 wickets for the match.

Starc finished with figures of 10-51, including 6-12 in the first innings where Bangladesh were bowled out for 64. In their second innings, the visitors were dismissed for 95, with Starc taking four wickets and spinners Nathan Lyon and captain Pat Cummins taking three each. Cummins highlighted the team's need to rebound after a "shock defeat" in the previous Test.

"We needed to bounce back, and it was a great couple of days from the lads. I thought everyone was sharp," Cummins said. "It was a great start and we didn't really let up after that."

Australia had established a first-innings lead of 146 after being bowled out for 210. Cameron Green top-scored with 67, while Lyon contributed an unbeaten 32. Shoriful Islam was the most effective bowler for Bangladesh, taking 7-48.

The visitors' second innings faltered early, losing their openers within the first eight overs. They struggled to 95-8 by the tea interval before Lyon took the final two wickets in quick succession to seal the victory.

Starc was named Player of the Match and Player of the Series, having taken 12 wickets overall at an average of 12.08. He has now moved to 10th on the all-time Test wicket-takers list with 445 dismissals.

Australia's next Test series is scheduled for October, with a three-match tour against South Africa.
