Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke has agreed to purchase a controlling interest in the Los Angeles Angels from Arte Moreno, a deal valued at a record-breaking price for Major League Baseball. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027, pending league approval and standard closing conditions.

Kroenke Sports & Entertainment announced the agreement Tuesday. The reported price exceeds $3.9 billion, surpassing the previous MLB record set during the recent sale of the San Diego Padres. This acquisition adds an MLB franchise to Kroenke's extensive portfolio, which includes the NFL's Rams, the NBA's Denver Nuggets, the NHL's Colorado Avalanche, Major League Soccer's Colorado Rapids, and the Premier League club Arsenal.

"The Angels are a storied franchise anchored in a great market," Kroenke said in a statement. "We look forward to an exciting future with the Angels organization." The purchase signals the end of Moreno's 23-year ownership of the team.
