Soccer Coach's Awkward Interview Goes Viral for Avoiding Eye Contact
Video shows David Oulehla, coach of FK Viagem Ústí nad Labem, failing to look at reporter Sabina Jaksova.
A video of Czech soccer coach David Oulehla has gained widespread attention online after he appeared to deliberately avoid making eye contact with interviewer Sabina Jaksova.
Oulehla, the coach of FK Viagem Ústí nad Labem, was being interviewed following his team's defeat to SFC Opava. The footage shows him listening intently to Jaksova's questions while staring straight ahead or off to the side, with a seemingly concerned expression.
The clip, initially posted to the club's TikTok account which has fewer than 30,000 followers, quickly amassed 1.8 million views. Social media users have responded with a mix of amusement and commentary on the coach's demeanor.
Jaksova, who is part of the club's reporting team, stated that she was approached directly by the club's management with an offer for the presenter role. She admitted to being surprised and happy about the offer. Despite having no prior experience, she accepted the opportunity and learned on the job.
This incident draws parallels to another viral moment involving soccer coach Arda Turan, formerly of Shakhtar Donetsk. Turan also went viral for awkwardly avoiding eye contact with reporter Daria Savina during an interview, fidgeting and keeping his hands in his pockets throughout their exchange. In a separate incident noted in the source material, Turan had also publicly warned a reporter to "Be respectful, or I will crush your head and eyes!" when the reporter attempted to question his wife outside a venue.
