Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Tarik Skubal delivered his most dominant performance with the team to date, striking out 11 batters over seven innings in a 4-3 victory against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday.

Despite allowing three runs in the first inning, Skubal settled into a rhythm and silenced the Pirates' offense. He stranded runners in scoring position in the second inning with two strikeouts and retired 18 of the final 19 batters he faced. Skubal's slider proved effective, particularly after struggling with his changeup early in the game. He reached a new high velocity with a 100 mph fastball in the sixth inning, striking out the side during a 14-pitch sequence.

"I'm not going to be perfect out there, but yeah, I need to be more efficient," Skubal said previously, expressing his standard of pitching deeper into games. "That's the standard that I hold myself to, is pitching deeper into ballgames. Giving our team a chance to win every time out."

The Dodgers' offense provided Skubal with a lead. In the fourth inning, Teoscar Hernández and Alek Thomas delivered consecutive RBI singles. In the fifth, Kyle Tucker broke a hitless streak at Dodger Stadium with a two-run single, scoring his first runs at the venue since July 8.

Skubal's outing marked his best with the Dodgers since his acquisition before the trade deadline. He finished one strikeout shy of his season high of 12, showcasing the sustained dominance that has established him as one of the league's top pitchers. His performance came after enduring what he described as his worst inning as a Dodger in the first frame.
