Sir Garfield Sobers, a towering figure in the history of cricket, has died at the age of 89. Cricket West Indies announced the passing of the Barbados-born legend on July 17, 2026.
Sobers played for the West Indies for two decades, from 1954 to 1974. He made his debut Test appearance in 1954 and played his final Test match in 1974, both against England. He is widely regarded as one of the finest cricketers to ever play the game.
