Jannik Sinner secured his second consecutive Wimbledon championship on Sunday, defeating No. 2 seed Alexander Zverev in a near four-hour contest on Centre Court. The 24-year-old Italian won with a score of 6-7 (7-9), 7-6 (7-2), 6-3, 6-4.
This victory marks Sinner's fifth Grand Slam title overall. The win also serves as a significant turnaround for his performance in major tournaments this year. In 2025, Sinner reached the finals of all four Grand Slams, winning two. However, he was eliminated in the semifinals of this year's Australian Open and exited in the second round of the French Open, his earliest exit from a Grand Slam in three years.
For Zverev, this was his first Grand Slam final appearance since winning his maiden Grand Slam title at Roland Garros last month. The 29-year-old German had never previously reached two consecutive Grand Slam finals. His recent success comes at a time when Spanish star Carlos Alcaraz is sidelined with a wrist injury.
