Sergio Perez Signs Multi-Year Extension with Cadillac Racing Through 2029
The veteran driver commits to the American Formula One team, aiming to contribute to its development from the ground up.

Sergio Perez has signed a multi-year contract extension with Cadillac Racing, committing him to the team through the 2029 season. The 36-year-old driver joined Cadillac last August, ahead of their inaugural season on the Formula One grid, partnering with Valtteri Bottas.
Perez, who made his Formula One debut in 2011, has secured six Grand Prix victories during his career. Five of these wins were achieved with Red Bull between 2021 and 2024, with his sole win for Racing Point (now Aston Martin) occurring in 2020. He finished third in the drivers' championship in 2022 and secured the second position behind teammate Max Verstappen in 2023. However, he was released by Red Bull at the end of the 2024 season.
Despite having two years remaining on his previous contract, Red Bull opted to replace him, citing a lack of sufficient performance to support Verstappen. This season, Perez and Bottas have yet to score points for Cadillac, with their best performances being three 14th-place finishes.
"Joining Cadillac from day one was a project I truly believed in, and extending my commitment feels like a natural continuation of this chapter," Perez stated. "Building a Formula One team from the ground up takes time, relentless work and patience, but the progress we are making together is incredibly rewarding."
Perez is set to mark his 300th Grand Prix start at his home race in Mexico City this weekend. He emphasized his dedication to the team's ongoing development, adding, "There is still a lot of work ahead of us and I am fully committed to the next three years."
