Serena Williams is set to make her return to the US Open, partnering with Carlos Alcaraz in a mixed doubles pairing, the U.S. Tennis Association announced Saturday. The duo has been granted a wild card for the year's final Grand Slam, with the mixed doubles main draw scheduled to begin on Tuesday.

This marks Williams' first appearance at the US Open since 2022. The 23-time Grand Slam singles champion made her return to professional tennis earlier this summer. Although Williams has not yet confirmed if she will compete in singles at this year's event, the USTA is reserving one wild card for the six-time US Open singles champion.

Williams recently competed in singles at Wimbledon, where she was eliminated in the first round. She then joined forces with her sister, Venus Williams, to play doubles at the Cincinnati Open.

Alcaraz, the reigning US Open singles champion, announced this week that he will defend his title. He has been sidelined since April due to a right wrist injury.
