Tennis legend Serena Williams is set to compete in her first professional singles match in four years at Wimbledon 2026. Williams received a wild card entry for the singles draw, marking her return to the tournament where she has won seven singles titles.
Her singles match is scheduled for Centre Court at 12 p.m. ET, following a Gentlemen's Singles match. Williams will face 20-year-old Australian player Maya Joint. This appearance follows her official return to tennis earlier this month in a doubles match at Queen’s Club.
Williams, who holds 23 Grand Slam singles titles, has not played singles at Wimbledon since 2022. Her last singles victory at the tournament was in 2016. She has an overall Wimbledon singles record of 98-14.
Joint, currently ranked World No. 87 in singles and No. 45 in doubles by the WTA, began playing tennis at a young age. She has secured two singles titles and two doubles titles in her career, reaching a career-high singles ranking of World No. 28.
Williams expressed that her return to the sport has been a smooth transition. "It’s been a very easy retransition. I’m back in the house that I stay in [for] several years," she told BBC TV. "It’s nothing too new, and at the same time it’s everything new. Change is good."
Fans can watch Williams's return to Wimbledon via live TV streaming services that offer the tournament broadcast. Some services provide free trial periods for new subscribers.
