A chaotic brawl erupted in the stands during a baseball game between the Chicago White Sox and the New York Mets at Guarantee Rate Field on Sunday. The incident, which involved multiple fans exchanging punches and kicks, is the second significant fight to occur at a Chicago baseball stadium within a week.
Footage of the Sunday game shows the fight spreading across nearly an entire section of seating. In one particularly aggressive moment, one fan leaped from several rows above, delivering a kick to another fan seated below. The altercation continued with fans punching, shoving, and stomping each other as bystanders attempted to move out of the way.
This incident follows a similar brawl that took place days earlier during the Crosstown Classic between the Chicago Cubs and the White Sox at Wrigley Field. That fight also involved numerous individuals, with punches and drinks reportedly being thrown.
During the Wrigley Field incident, security guards and police officers intervened to separate the fighting fans. According to reports, three individuals were arrested. Charges included misdemeanor battery and felony possession of cocaine for one 41-year-old man, while a 33-year-old and a 29-year-old faced misdemeanor criminal trespass charges. The fights at Wrigley Field reportedly involved fans in Cubs jerseys fighting each other, alongside confrontations between fans of both teams. One report also noted footage appearing to show a Cubs fan shoving a woman while trying to retrieve a home run ball.
The White Sox ultimately won Sunday's game against the Mets 2-1, with Tristan Peters hitting a walk-off home run in the ninth inning.
