Second Hull City Player Crashes Car En Route to Training

A second Hull City player has crashed their vehicle while traveling to training, mirroring an incident involving teammate Sorba Thomas just three weeks prior. A Mercedes was found overturned on a residential road near the Premier League club's training facilities.

The identity of the player involved has not been officially confirmed, but midfielder Lucas Gourna-Douath posted a photograph on Instagram on Wednesday featuring the car in question. The post indicated the vehicle was recently sourced for him.

Humberside Police confirmed that emergency services attended the scene of a single-vehicle collision on Millhouse Woods Lane in Cottingham around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2026. The police statement noted that no injuries resulted from the incident.

Gourna-Douath, who joined the newly promoted Premier League club from RB Salzburg in the summer for a reported £3 million, had recently taken possession of the vehicle.

This latest incident occurred just three weeks after teammate Sorba Thomas flipped his £160,000 Land Rover Defender on his way to training. Thomas, 27, was able to walk away from that crash, which also took place on Millhouse Woods Lane around 8:30 a.m.

Sorba Thomas was involved in a crash that saw his car flip onto its roof on his way to training last month.

Thomas's vehicle was pictured on its roof with broken windows. Residents in the area, a narrow road where speeds are reportedly limited to 15 mph, expressed shock at the crash. Despite the incident, Thomas was available for selection and came on as a substitute the following day in Hull City's 2-2 draw against Chelsea.
