The Seattle Seahawks are being sold for a record $9.6 billion, five months after the team won the Super Bowl. The deal is a new high for the National Football League, which has seen its sales record broken twice in the last four years.

A group of investors led by Vinod Khosla, a 71-year-old Indian billionaire and venture capitalist, has agreed to purchase the team. Khosla is currently a minority owner of the San Francisco 49ers, one of the Seahawks' division rivals. This ownership stake will need to be resolved before the sale can be finalized.

NFL owners must still approve the transaction. A meeting to discuss the sale has been tentatively scheduled for August 26.
