Following the Rams' subsequent victory over the New York Giants, McVay offered a candid assessment, calling himself a "dumbass coach" for the travel plans that preceded the defeat to the San Francisco 49ers.

The Rams' trip to Australia involved a lengthy 16-hour flight, with the team arriving on a Thursday local time and playing the 49ers on Friday morning. McVay had opted for a strategy of trying to stay on Los Angeles time, immediately returning home after the game. This approach contrasted with the 49ers, who arrived six days prior to the game for an acclimation period.

"We have the right people," McVay stated after the win against the Giants. "Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn. Sometimes you have a dumbass coach that makes travel plans that put you in a bad spot. So there you go. That's a dropped mic."

McVay admitted to stewing over the loss to the 49ers for nearly two weeks, taking personal responsibility and feeling he did not adequately prepare the team. The sting of the 27-7 loss remained a point of frustration for the coach.

"I didn't do a good enough job getting us ready to go," McVay said following the Australia game. He later added, "We're not playing in Australia ever again, I hope." However, he clarified that this sentiment was not a reflection on the atmosphere of the event itself, but rather on the team's preparation and performance.

Despite the lingering frustration from the season opener, the Rams' recent win has shifted the team's focus back toward their Super Bowl aspirations. Quarterback Matthew Stafford commented on the team's performance, saying, "I thought our guys came out and played great. We played with a bunch of passion, energy, excited to be back home in SoFi."
