Terrion Arnold, a recent addition to the Seattle Seahawks, has been placed on the NFL commissioner's exempt list, which will prevent him from playing or practicing while on paid leave. The league will officially place him on the list once it receives his contract, according to ESPN.
Arnold officially signed with the Seahawks on Saturday, the team announced. This move comes after he was cut by the Detroit Lions earlier in the summer following allegations of his involvement in a kidnapping case. He faces eight felony charges.
Arnold surrendered to police on June 24, maintaining his innocence. Prosecutors allege he was the "primary conspirator" in a February kidnapping in Largo, Florida, where he is accused of assaulting three men he suspected of stealing $100,000 from an Airbnb. He faces four counts each of armed robbery and kidnapping, with a potential life sentence.
"Terrion Arnold categorically denies any involvement in the matters underlying the allegations made against him and maintains his innocence," said Denise White, CEO of EAG Sports Management, on the day of his arrest. "There is no credible evidence linking Mr. Arnold to these allegations."
Before signing with the Seahawks, Arnold, a 2024 first-round draft pick, visited with several other NFL teams, including the Giants. Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald addressed the decision to sign Arnold, stating that the team felt "really strongly about our locker room and our team" and had a positive visit with him. Macdonald also referenced individuals who have supported Arnold throughout the process, indicating that the team respected their strong opinions.
