Seahawks Sign Veteran Running Back Joe Mixon to Address Injury Concerns
The Super Bowl champions add two-time Pro Bowl selection Joe Mixon to bolster their running back corps.
The Seattle Seahawks have agreed to terms with veteran running back Joe Mixon, the team announced Monday. Mixon, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, is expected to join the Seahawks' practice squad initially as the team works to address depth issues in its running back room.
Mixon, 30, previously played for the Cincinnati Bengals and the Houston Texans. He missed the entire 2025 season due to a foot injury, described by Houston general manager Nick Caserio as a 'freak' occurrence. Reports in July indicated Mixon had expressed to some teammates his intention not to play football again.
The Seahawks, who are the reigning Super Bowl champions, are preparing to face the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Mixon's addition brings experience to a position group impacted by injuries.
