Seahawks Dismantle Chiefs 20-3 Behind Sam Darnold's Strong Performance

The Seattle Seahawks delivered a commanding performance on Sunday night, defeating the Kansas City Chiefs 20-3. Quarterback Sam Darnold silenced critics with a solid outing, supported by a suffocating Seahawks defense that limited Patrick Mahomes and the typically potent Chiefs offense. The victory showcased Seattle's defensive prowess, a hallmark of their recent seasons.

Darnold, who had faced scrutiny after recent struggles, completed key passes throughout the game. He connected with Jaxson Smith-Njigba for a 33-yard gain on Seattle's first scoring drive and later found him for a 28-yard touchdown. Despite an interception in the second quarter that ended a promising drive near the Chiefs' 2-yard line, Darnold largely managed the offense effectively. Head coach Mike Macdonald expressed confidence in Darnold prior to the game, stating he was "definitely part of the solution."

The Seahawks' defense consistently pressured Mahomes, who struggled to find rhythm. With receiver Rashee Rice absent, the Kansas City receiving corps had difficulty creating separation. Running back Kenneth Walker III was also contained, managing only 36 yards on 14 carries against Seattle's defense. By the fourth quarter, Kansas City had scored only three points, a mark tied for the fewest in a game during Mahomes' career.

Kansas City kicker Harrison Butker missed two field goal attempts, including a 45-yard try in the fourth quarter that would have narrowed the deficit. Seattle capitalized on these missed opportunities, extending their lead with a 21-yard touchdown run by Emanuel Wilson late in the game.

Statistically, Seattle dominated the contest, holding a 388-to-210 yardage advantage and achieving 22 first downs to Kansas City's 11. The Seahawks converted 11 of 15 third downs, while the Chiefs managed just 3 of 11.

The Seahawks will host the Chicago Bears next, while the Chiefs face the Denver Broncos on the road.
