Scott McTominay has rejoined Napoli's training sessions for the first time since undergoing successful heart surgery in September. The 29-year-old Scotland international was diagnosed with a mild benign arrhythmia, a non-serious irregular heart rhythm.

The procedure, performed in Manchester, was initially expected to keep McTominay sidelined for two weeks. However, he missed Scotland's international fixtures and has now returned to training with his Italian club, making him available for selection in the upcoming match against Frosinone on Saturday.

McTominay, who joined Napoli from Manchester United in 2024, has been a significant contributor for the club. He has scored 27 goals and provided 10 assists in 82 appearances, playing a pivotal role in Napoli's Serie A title victory in the 2024-25 season. Under manager Antonio Conte, he transformed into an effective attacking midfielder, scoring 12 Serie A goals and earning the league's MVP award for that campaign. His performances also earned him 18th place in the 2025 Ballon d'Or rankings.

His fiancée, Cam Reading, expressed her support with a message reading, 'By your side, always so proud of you.' The couple, together since approximately 2022, became engaged shortly after.

McTominay himself had downplayed concerns about the surgery, stating, 'I'm fine. The procedure was something I'd planned to do with the club for quite a while.'
