New York Yankees pitcher Cam Schlittler maintained a slim advantage over Toronto Blue Jays' Dylan Cease in the American League Cy Young Award race following their weekend outings. Both pitchers faced their respective teams' offenses, which largely failed to provide significant run support.
Schlittler pitched six innings on Friday, allowing one run and nine baserunners in a 3-1 Yankees victory. The following day, Cease held the Yankees hitless into the seventh inning but ultimately surrendered two hits, five walks, and one run over 6 ⅔ innings in a 4-3 Blue Jays loss.
Despite the mixed results from their recent starts, Cease and Schlittler remain the clear front-runners for the AL Cy Young Award. Schlittler's road ERA of 1.14 has been a significant factor in his candidacy.
