Sam Underhill to Miss Autumn Internationals With Bicep Injury

England and Bath flanker Sam Underhill will miss the upcoming Nations Championship after suffering a bicep rupture in his team's opening game of the season. The injury occurred during Bath's match against Harlequins, forcing Underhill off the field in the 48th minute.

Underhill, 30, will undergo surgery later this week. Bath's head of rugby, Johann van Graan, stated that the club anticipates Underhill will be out of action until December or January. This extended absence means he will miss a significant portion of the domestic season and England's three international fixtures in November against Australia, Japan, and New Zealand.

Van Graan described the injury as serious, noting his immediate concern upon Underhill leaving the field. "There are a few types of injuries where I just want to know straight away because I know the impact that it has longer term and I always feel for the players, so that's why I went straight down," Van Graan told BBC Radio Somerset. He added that initial thoughts pointed to a biceps rupture, which was later confirmed by scans. "He will get operated on on Thursday, that's a few months out of the game - not ideal from Sam's point of view."
