Arsenal continued its winning streak in the Premier League with a 1-0 victory over Aston Villa on Monday. The decisive goal came from Bukayo Saka in the 59th minute, marking a hard-fought win for the defending champions.

With this result, Arsenal remains tied at the top of the league table, achieving six points from their initial two matches. Aston Villa, conversely, is left without points and, concerningly for manager Unai Emery, has not registered a shot on target in the competition so far.

Emery faces a significant rebuilding task, as more than half of the players who started Villa's Europa Cup win in May have departed the club. Two new signings, Nicolas Jackson and Zion Suzuki, were included in the starting lineup against Arsenal. Suzuki became the first Japanese goalkeeper to appear in the Premier League.

While Aston Villa started with some early pressure, including an Emilian Buendía effort that struck the crossbar, Arsenal grew into the game and ended the first half as the stronger side, though without seriously testing Suzuki.

The second half followed a similar pattern until Ian Maatsen's foul on Saka inside the penalty area nine minutes into the half. A video review initially suggested a penalty, but it was downgraded to a free kick. Saka ultimately converted from close range following interplay between Eberechi Eze and Riccardo Calafiori, securing the win for Arsenal.

Neither team established dominance throughout the match, and clear-cut scoring opportunities were limited.
