New Orleans Saints first-round wide receiver Jordyn Tyson suffered a hamstring injury during a joint practice with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday, potentially impacting his availability for the start of the regular season. Head coach Kellen Moore confirmed the injury on Friday but declined to provide a specific timetable for Tyson's return.
Tyson, the No. 8 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, landed awkwardly after catching a pass and left the practice session early. Moore stated that the injury was a result of unfortunate circumstances, including a slippery foot and being pushed from behind, suggesting any player in a similar situation could face the same outcome.
This injury adds to a history of physical setbacks for the 22-year-old receiver. Tyson also dealt with a hamstring issue during his final season at Arizona State, which limited him to nine games. During that redshirt junior year, he recorded 61 receptions for 711 yards and eight touchdowns. In the season prior, he had a breakout performance with 75 catches for 1,101 yards and 10 touchdowns. Late in the 2024 season, Tyson sustained a broken collarbone, which ended his season prematurely and caused him to miss key games, including the Big 12 Championship and the Peach Bowl.
