The first week of the NFL regular season features a matchup between the New Orleans Saints and the Detroit Lions on Sunday, September 13.
The game is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. EST at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan. It will be broadcast on FOX.
The Lions will enter the season without running back David Montgomery, who was traded to the Houston Texans in March. In exchange for Montgomery, Detroit acquired offensive lineman Juice Scruggs, a 2026 fourth-round pick, and a 2027 seventh-round pick.
Detroit will be led by quarterback Jared Goff. The Saints, under quarterback Tyler Shough, will be without Spencer Rattler, who had been the team's No. 2 quarterback for the first eight weeks of the 2025 season. Shough now holds that position on the depth chart.
Running back Alvin Kamara is expected to play for the Saints, having returned to practice on Wednesday after recovering from a knee injury.
