Aryna Sabalenka, the reigning World No. 1, has unveiled the inspiration behind her eye-catching custom jewelry worn at the U.S. Open: New York City itself. The dazzling set, valued at $110,000, features a collection of necklaces, bracelets, and earrings adorned with more than 127 carats of colored gemstones.
Sabalenka, who recently advanced to the third round of the tournament with a decisive victory, described the jewelry as "100 percent inspired by New York." She elaborated that the pieces are "colorful. Bold. Fun. It's vintage-looking. Different shapes, different stones. Literally, I feel like it describes New York perfectly."
The striking ensemble, crafted by New York jeweler Material Good, includes a vibrant mix of sapphires, tourmaline, garnet, zircon, spinel, chrysoberyl, and tanzanite, set in various shapes. For her second-round match, Sabalenka opted to wear the necklace and bracelet.
This display of flair comes as Sabalenka aims for a third consecutive U.S. Open title, having won the championship in 2024 and 2025. Her performances and personality have resonated with New York fans throughout her career. In 2024, following a quarterfinal win, she famously engaged with the crowd by asking, "Drinks on me?" The following year, she partnered with Maestro Dobel Tequila for a promotion offering cocktail rebates and bottle discounts.
Sabalenka has shown strong form in the current tournament, having yet to drop a set through her first two matches. Her swift victory over Polina Iatcenko in the second round took less than an hour. The 28-year-old Belarusian's undefeated streak at Grand Slam events against qualifiers now stands at 13 wins, all in straight sets. She is scheduled to face Camila Osorio in her next match.
