Ryan Weathers Emerges as a Bright Spot for the Yankees in a Challenging Season
Despite injuries and team struggles, the left-handed pitcher found his stride in his first year with New York.
New York Yankees pitcher Ryan Weathers has become a notable find for the team during a season marked by numerous losses. In his inaugural season with the Yankees, Weathers showed consistent improvement until an elbow injury sidelined him in late August, concluding his regular season early.
Following his injury, Weathers transitioned to a relief role for two postseason games. This performance marked a significant turnaround from his earlier career with the San Diego Padres, where he posted a 5.73 ERA over parts of three seasons, and his time with the Miami Marlins, where injuries limited him to 24 starts over his final two years.
In his 2026 campaign with the Yankees, Weathers achieved a career-best season, finishing with a 3.60 ERA in 25 starts. His development represents a positive outcome amidst a difficult season for the team.
