Ryan Naderi Emphasizes Team Togetherness as Rangers Aim to Build on Old Firm Derby Success

Rangers forward Ryan Naderi has called for his team to harness their newfound sense of togetherness to ensure their recent success against Celtic is not a fleeting moment. The Scottish club secured a second consecutive victory over their rivals with a 1-0 win at Celtic Park on Sunday, following a Premier Sports Cup triumph.

Despite the significant wins, Naderi cautioned against overconfidence, emphasizing the long season ahead. "We have to still understand that we have a whole season in front of us still. So, we should just keep this up, not fly too high, just stay focused and keep going as we are," Naderi stated. He added, "We have to stay together as a team, even in bad times and good times."

The recent victories mark a notable turnaround for Rangers, who endured a difficult start to the campaign. Early season struggles included losses to Dundee United and Hibs, and elimination from European competition.

However, manager Derek McInnes has seemingly galvanized the squad. The team has now won six consecutive matches, including the two crucial Old Firm derbies. Naderi highlighted the defensive solidity as a key factor in their improved performance. "I think you see this togetherness by the goals we concede, not many," he explained. "We play a lot of games to zero. That means that we just are very compact, we work together, look at each other, where the person next to you stands."

Naderi himself has been instrumental in the team's resurgence. After a somewhat cumbersome start following his January transfer from Hansa Rostock, he has refined his play, improving his runs and link-up play within the team's strategy. He demonstrated his commitment by playing through an ankle knock sustained the previous week to feature in the match against Celtic.

"Of course, it was hurting throughout the week," Naderi said of his injury. "But I mean, those games, especially if you have a break afterwards, you can't miss them."

Manager McInnes praised Naderi's contribution, stating, "I think Ryan has been terrific. His sheer willingness means he deserves good things to happen to him. And I’m glad he’s managed to get himself on the scoresheet. It was a big moment for him but also a big moment for us as a club."

While the league table still shows Rangers trailing Celtic, the team's current form and momentum suggest a shift in the competitive landscape. The upcoming international break arrives at a time when Rangers are on a winning streak, having secured vital victories against their fiercest rivals.
