Two prominent boxing personalities, Ryan Garcia and Conor Benn, are set to clash in a welterweight bout on Saturday. Garcia, the reigning WBC welterweight champion, will defend his belt against Conor Benn at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The preliminary card is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. ET, with the main card starting at 8 p.m. ET.
In the co-main event, Jai Opetaia will defend his “The Ring” and Zuffa cruiserweight titles against WBC cruiserweight titleholder Noel Mikaelian in a 12-round contest.
Garcia enters the fight as a strong favorite with odds of -320, while Benn is considered the underdog at +260. Other bouts on the card include Sean Garcia facing Abraham Morales, Jose Carlos Ramirez against Alexis Rocha, and Vlad Panini versus Dakota Linger.
Garcia is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Mario Barrios in February, a performance that highlighted his speed and power. This win marked a comeback following a loss to Rolly Romero and a no contest against Devin Haney. Garcia weighed in at 145.5 pounds and holds a reach advantage over Benn.
Benn has secured victories in his last two fights, most recently defeating Regis Prograis in April and Chris Eubank Jr. in November. This fight marks Benn's return to the United States and his first bout at 147 pounds since 2022. He expressed the challenges of making the weight, stating, “It’s been four-and-a-half years since I made it, and it feels like I’ve been through the pits of hell and had a fight with Satan, and God brought me back to life. That’s how it feels to make this weight. But ultimately, I’ve done it, and that’s it.”
Analysts suggest that Garcia's technical maturity and stamina could be key factors in the fight. Benn has stated his intention to attack aggressively early on. However, the prediction favors Garcia to successfully defend his title, with potential for a win by KO/TKO/DQ or within rounds 5-8.
