Ryan Clark, a former NFL player and longtime ESPN analyst, became visibly emotional during a recent appearance on his podcast, "The Pivot," while discussing his departure from the network.

Clark was among several individuals laid off by ESPN earlier this week. The circumstances of his notification reportedly occurred during a live taping of "NFL Live" on a Monday, after OutKick had obtained information about the layoffs and inquired with ESPN for comment. This prompted ESPN to inform Clark during the broadcast to avoid the story being broken by OutKick.

On "The Pivot," Clark spoke about his feelings following the dismissal. "All I ever wanted to do was be accepted," he said, reportedly becoming tearful.

The analyst's emotional reaction has drawn commentary from others in the sports media landscape. Former NFL defensive back Asante Samuel took to X (formerly Twitter) to address Clark's on-air tears. "ESPN Ryan, I tried to stay quite pimp but you’re taking this fired s–t too far," Samuel wrote. "Why are you so sensitive and emotional brother? People get fired everyday B."

Clark joined ESPN in 2015 after retiring from the NFL. His tenure at the network included work on various NFL programs.
