Russo Voted England Women's Player of the Year
Arsenal forward Alessia Russo has been recognized by fans for her strong performance in the 2025-26 campaign.
Alessia Russo, forward for Arsenal and the England women's national team, has been named England women's player of the year. This marks her second time receiving the fan-voted award, having previously won it two seasons ago.
Russo, 27, was a significant contributor during the 2025-26 season, appearing in all 10 of England's games and scoring five goals. Her recent performance includes scoring the third goal in England's 3-1 victory against Greece in the first leg of their 2027 World Cup play-off semi-final last week.
She secured the award over Chelsea players Lucy Bronze and Hannah Hampton. "To receive the award is really special, particularly as it comes directly from the fans. I am so grateful for their support," Russo stated. "A big thank you also to my team-mates - it is always about the collective."
England is scheduled to host Greece in the second leg of their playoff match at Leicester's King Power Stadium on Tuesday.
