Roman Reigns successfully defended his World Heavyweight Championship against Penta in a highly acclaimed match on "Monday Night Raw" in Mexico City. The championship bout was considered one of the best matches of the year on the program.

Penta earned his title opportunity by winning a No. 1 contender tournament. Reigns, who won the championship at WrestleMania 42 over CM Punk, had previously defended his title against challengers including Jacob Fatu and Seth Rollins.

The match saw Penta have the crowd in Mexico City behind him from the start, entering the ring with a headdress. Reigns largely allowed Penta to dictate the early pace, attempting to slow down the match. Penta gained an advantage by targeting Reigns' right arm, a strategy that seemed to impede the champion's ability to perform his signature moves. Despite the injury, Reigns managed to kick out of Penta's Penta Driver and Mexican Destroyer.

The tide turned when Penta attempted a high-risk maneuver late in the match. Reigns countered with a Superman punch and followed up with a spear to secure the pinfall and retain his title. The crowd reacted with disappointment as their favored competitor's title hopes were dashed.

Following Reigns' victory, LA Knight emerged to confront the champion. As Reigns was speaking into a microphone, Knight delivered a BFT (Blunt Force Trauma) to Reigns. Raw general manager Adam Pearce has since made it official that Knight will face Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship at the Money in the Bank event on October 10 in New Orleans.

Reigns, addressing Knight after the attack, stated, "This is what I'm talking about. I'm sick and tired of it. All these beggars. You want it? If he wants it, he can get it. Money in the Bank. New Orleans. Down south I'm going to whoop his b---h a--."

Knight's victory positions him for a significant championship opportunity, marking his return to contention after a period of pursuing a path back to major singles opportunities.
