Manchester City midfielder Rodri is reportedly seeking a move back to Spain, awaiting a decision from Real Madrid president Florentino Perez. The 30-year-old, who has one year remaining on his contract with City, has been offered a new deal since April but has yet to accept the terms.
His potential departure comes after leading Spain to World Cup victory, a feat that has reportedly garnered increased support for the transfer within Real Madrid, despite initial reluctance from Perez. The club has brought in Jose Mourinho to foster unity and he has advocated for the recruitment of senior players, which could lead to other departures to facilitate such moves.
Real Madrid's Aurelien Tchouameni, who has reportedly agreed to a new contract extension and wishes to remain at the club, might face limited opportunities if Rodri arrives. Similarly, his compatriot Eduardo Camavinga's future at Madrid is also uncertain.
Premier League clubs are monitoring the situation closely. Manchester United have a long-standing interest in Tchouameni but have not made recent inquiries, citing the player's high cost and difficulty fitting into their current wage structure. Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester City have previously considered Camavinga, who is still only 23 and could represent good value.
Other players expected to leave Real Madrid include Gonzalo Garcia, who is a target for Fulham, and Franco Mastantuono, who is likely to be allowed out on loan. Raul Asencio is also expected to depart as the club works to recoup funds for Rodri and potentially another significant signing.
Meanwhile, Manchester City has already signed Elliot Anderson and is pursuing a deal for Lille's Ayyoub Bouaddi, suggesting proactive planning in their midfield recruitment.
