Robin Raikkonen, the 11-year-old son of former Formula 1 world champion Kimi Raikkonen, has signed with Red Bull's driver development program. He is set to join the program in 2027.

Nicknamed 'Ace', Robin has garnered attention for his performances in karting championships. The Red Bull junior team has a history of nurturing talent, with notable alumni including four-time F1 champions Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen.

Kimi Raikkonen, who won his sole F1 title in 2007 and retired from the sport in 2021 after 349 starts, expressed his excitement. "We are all thrilled and excited that Robin has been chosen to further his racing path as a member of the Red Bull junior team," he stated. "They offer a compelling and comprehensive programme to develop and nurture Robin's progress over the coming years and provide him with all the experience required to develop his natural talent."

Laurent Mekies, Red Bull team principal, commented on Robin's potential. "His speed, racecraft and natural talent have established him as one of the most promising young drivers in his age group," Mekies said. "At the same time, he impresses with his maturity, his calm approach and his clear focus on driving." Mekies added that the team aims to support Robin's development gradually, stating, "Our goal is to develop him step by step, without placing any unnecessary pressure on his shoulders. The path through motorsport is a long one and we will give him the time, support and resources he needs to maximise his potential."

Robin's career move follows a similar path to Ella Hakkinen, daughter of two-time world champion Mika Hakkinen, who joined McLaren's driver development program last year. Kimi Raikkonen was the most recent Ferrari driver to secure a world championship, achieving the feat in 2007. He also competed in the World Rally Championship and NASCAR during his diverse motorsport career.
