Robbie Savage Granted Permission to Speak With Other Club Amid Peterborough Links

Forest Green Rovers have granted manager Robbie Savage permission to speak with another club, igniting speculation about a potential move to Peterborough United. The National League side confirmed that Savage would not be present in the dugout for Tuesday night's home fixture against Wealdstone.

When questioned about contact from Peterborough United on Saturday, Savage did not confirm or deny the rumors, stating he was unaware if any official contact had been made. "I don't know, I've got a game to prepare for and I'm really excited to watch my team," he told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.

Savage, a former Wales international, was appointed manager of Forest Green on July 1, 2025. Prior to this role, he managed non-league Macclesfield Town. The 51-year-old midfielder, who played for clubs including Derby County, Birmingham City, Leicester City, and Blackburn Rovers, led Forest Green to a seventh-place finish last season, though they were ultimately defeated in the play-off eliminators.

This current season, Forest Green sits 12th in the league standings after 10 matches, with a record of four wins, two draws, and four defeats. Meanwhile, Peterborough United is seeking a new manager after dismissing Luke Williams on September 19, following a disappointing start to their campaign. The club is currently in 23rd place in League One, having secured only one win in their last eight league games.
