LeBron James' agent, Rich Paul, provided an unusual public glimpse into the NBA superstar's free agency considerations during an episode of his podcast, "Game Over," with Max Kellerman. The discussion, which aired Friday, detailed a list of teams James is reportedly contemplating, offering a rare insight into the decision-making process for one of the league's most high-profile players.
Paul presented a whiteboard listing 10 teams that James is reportedly considering. These include the Philadelphia 76ers, Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers, Denver Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, Dallas Mavericks, Golden State Warriors, Boston Celtics, San Antonio Spurs, and New York Knicks. The agent made several candid remarks, including stating that the Knicks might have been a primary option if they had won the championship. "If the Knicks hadn’t have won [the championship], there wouldn’t even be no board," Paul said. "He’d be going to the Knicks."
However, Paul also employed a more guarded approach when discussing certain teams. When questioned about the Warriors' placement on the board, Paul deflected, stating, "You can think whatever you think. This is my board. You decide what you want to think."
Regarding a potential reunion with the Cavaliers, where James played two stints and secured a championship in 2016, Paul highlighted the importance of assistant general manager Brandon Weems, whom he described as "basically LeBron’s brother." Paul also indicated that the absence of Darius Garland from the Cavaliers' roster could be a factor for James. "No offense to Harden, but no Garland, because he loves Garland like he loves Maxey," Paul commented.
Paul emphasized the significant interest James has garnered, noting that he has heard from nearly every team in the league, with the exception of perhaps one or two organizations. He also suggested that the upcoming season may not necessarily be James' final one in the NBA. Additionally, Paul confirmed that James' wife, Savannah, and daughter, Zhuri, have given him their approval to sign with any team.
