Reedijk Faces Familiar Struggles as Hibs Sink to Bottom of League

Hibernian manager Marink Reedijk finds himself grappling with a losing habit, a stark contrast to his unbeaten run with Beveren last season. The Scottish Premiership side has fallen to the bottom of the league after an eight-game start, a position Reedijk deems unacceptable.

Falkirk secured a 2-1 victory at Easter Road, capitalizing on two defensive errors by Hibernian. The first goal came in the 13th minute when Azeem Abdulai's misjudgement allowed Ryan Strain to find Jacob Murrell, who finished past Raphael Sallinger. Falkirk doubled their lead in the 37th minute after Thibault Klidje's attempted backheel near his own corner flag presented Murrell with another opportunity, which he converted emphatically.

Hibs managed to pull a goal back before halftime through Owen Elding, assisted by Felix Passlack. However, Elding missed a crucial chance to equalize early in the second half, and despite dominating possession, Hibernian struggled to create further clear-cut chances. Substitute Jamie McGrath forced a save from Falkirk goalkeeper Scott Bain late in the game, but any hope of a late comeback was extinguished by Jason Kerr's misplaced pass in stoppage time.

Reedijk, who has been in charge for only three weeks, expressed frustration over the concessions. "I think we are a thief of our own wallet," he stated. "I think we gave away two easy goals. If you dominate in this way, you can’t lose." Despite the result, Reedijk saw progress, noting, "I saw a better team today and I see progress."

Falkirk manager John McGlynn praised his players' work ethic, stating, "It was all about winning for us today. It’s a huge three points for us and from here, we want to kick on." The win was particularly satisfying for Falkirk after recent matches where they lost late goals.

The match saw a number of individual performances draw attention. Abdulai, making his first start for Hibs since a summer move from Leyton Orient, did not impress. Klidje's decision-making, both in attack and defense, was also questioned. For Falkirk, Murrell's brace proved decisive, while the team's overall effort was commended by McGlynn.
