Rays Even ALCS at Two Games Each With Game 4 Victory Over Guardians

The Tampa Bay Rays have tied the American League Championship Series at two games apiece following a 7-3 victory over the Cleveland Guardians in Game 4. The series will now extend to at least six games, with Game 5 scheduled for Sunday. The Rays secured the win with a late offensive surge, including a crucial two-run home run in the ninth inning.

Cleveland opened the scoring in the first inning with an RBI single, but their offense was largely contained thereafter. The Rays responded in the third inning, tying the game on an RBI double. They took the lead in the sixth inning when Junior Caminero hit an RBI double, giving Tampa Bay a 2-1 advantage. The team expanded its lead in the same inning with a two-run single that also brought in another run following a sacrifice fly, making the score 4-1.

Although the Guardians managed to cut into the lead in the bottom of the sixth, the Rays added insurance runs in the top of the ninth. Yandy Diaz capped off the scoring with a two-out, two-run home run. Closer Bryan Baker then secured the win in the bottom of the ninth, ending the game with a double play and a strikeout after allowing a leadoff single.

The series experienced a postponement due to weather on Friday night, which pushed Games 4 and 5 back by one day. Game 6 is scheduled for Monday without any further off days in the series. This marks the first time in the series that neither team has won back-to-back games.
