Rays Edge Brewers in Extra Innings to Force Game 5

The Tampa Bay Rays kept their World Series aspirations alive Tuesday night with a dramatic 4-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 4, forcing a decisive Game 5. The win came in 13 innings at Tropicana Field after the Brewers had taken a 3-2 lead in the top of the extra frame.

Milwaukee's Cooper Pratt, a 22-year-old, had given the Brewers a brief lead with a solo home run in the 13th, his first of the game. However, the Rays mounted a comeback in the bottom half of the inning. An error allowed Junior Caminero to reach base, and a subsequent single by Liam Hicks moved him to third. Jonny DeLuca then delivered an RBI single to center field to tie the game.

With the bases loaded and no outs, Ben Williamson, pinch-hitting for the Rays, hit a walk-off single to secure the win and send the series back to Milwaukee.

The Brewers, who entered Game 4 on the brink of their first World Series title in franchise history, had not lost a postseason game prior to Tuesday night's matchup since Game 3 of the ALDS. They had swept the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS and won the first three games of the World Series.

The Rays opened the scoring in the fourth inning when Chandler Simpson doubled down the right field line, scoring DeLuca for a 1-0 lead. Milwaukee responded in the fifth when David Hamilton hit a solo home run off Rays pitcher Griffin Jax, tying the game at 2-2.

Both bullpens managed to hold the opposing offenses in check for several innings, pushing the game into extra innings. The Brewers took the lead in the top of the 13th on Pratt's solo blast, but the Rays ultimately answered back to force Game 5.
