Tampa Bay will face the Brewers in their third franchise World Series appearance.
The Tampa Bay Rays are heading to the World Series for the third time in franchise history, and the first time since 2020, after defeating the Cleveland Guardians 7-3 in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series on Tuesday.
Tampa Bay clinched the series 4-2 at Tropicana Field, setting up a Fall Classic matchup with the Milwaukee Brewers. The Rays aim to capture their first World Series title.
Key offensive plays secured the victory for Tampa Bay. In the bottom of the seventh inning, Junior Caminero hit a two-run home run to extend the Rays' lead to 5-1. Although the Guardians scored twice in the top of the eighth, Yandy Díaz responded with a two-run shot in the bottom half of the inning, pushing Tampa Bay's lead to 5-3 and ultimately sealing the win.
Rays' starting pitcher Freddy Peralta pitched 5 ⅓ innings, allowing one run on five hits and striking out three batters. His performance helped lay the groundwork for the bullpen to close out the game.
