The New York Rangers have agreed to a one-year, two-way contract with defenseman Scott Morrow. The deal, as reported by The Post's Mollie Walker, carries an NHL value of $850,000 and an AHL value of $125,000.
Morrow, 23, returns to the Rangers after being acquired in the K’Andre Miller deal. Last season, he appeared in 29 games for the Rangers, recording six assists. He also played 34 games with the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, where he scored five goals and added 14 assists.
Morrow will enter training camp as a candidate for the seventh defenseman position. He is a right-handed shot. With Adam Fox, Sean Durzi, and Braden Schneider seemingly set as the primary right-handed defensemen, Morrow and Urho Vaakanainen may vie for a backup role. Matthew Robertson, who was a regular in the lineup last season, is also a possibility but is expected to play on the left side of the third pair. Morrow did not score any goals for the Rangers in his 29 appearances last season.
