Rangers has finalized a double signing on deadline day, bringing in forward Kevin Kelsy and winger Badredine Bouanani to bolster their squad.
Kelsy, a Venezuelan international, was identified as a primary target following an injury to Youssef Chermiti. The 22-year-old joins from MLS side Portland Timbers for a reported fee of £9.2 million, signing a four-year contract with an option for a fifth year. This transfer fee ranks as the second-highest in Rangers' history. Kelsy's career includes spells with Mineros de Guayana, Boston River, Shakhtar Donetsk, and a loan at FC Cincinnati before his move to Portland.
"I would love to bring some joy to the fans and the club, and score goals to bring amazing moments to the team," Kelsy stated. Manager Derek McInnes expressed satisfaction with the signing, noting Kelsy's hunger to make an impact and the quality he brings to the forward line.
The club also secured the loan of Algerian winger Badredine Bouanani from Stuttgart for one year. The 21-year-old previously played for Nice, where he scored against Rangers in a European match before his move to Germany in 2025.
These acquisitions mark the club's 14th and 15th signings of the transfer window, encompassing both permanent deals and loans. In related moves, Thelo Aasgaard has been loaned to Anderlecht, while a second bid for Nico Raskin from Besiktas was reportedly turned down.
