Rangers Place Garand, Raddysh on Waivers in Bold Roster Move

The New York Rangers have opted to place goaltender Dylan Garand and forward Taylor Raddysh on waivers, a decision that officially designates Joonas Korpisalo as the backup goaltender to Igor Shesterkin for the upcoming season.

This move comes with a degree of risk, as another team could claim Garand off waivers, resulting in the Rangers losing the young netminder without compensation. The organization, however, appears willing to accept this possibility, believing that Garand, 24, requires further development and that prioritizing starting goaltender experience, even at the AHL level, could be beneficial for his growth. Should he clear waivers, Garand is expected to be the top goaltender for the AHL affiliate in Hartford.

Taylor Raddysh, who played in 68 games for the Rangers last season and recorded 19 points, had been competing for one of the final forward spots during training camp, alongside players like Matt Rempe and Jaroslav Chmelar. His absence from the official game group that traveled for the preseason finale, along with Garand and defenseman Scott Morrow, was an early indication of this roster decision.
