Rangers goalkeeper Pandur aims to emulate Goram's Parkhead heroics

Rangers goalkeeper Ivor Pandur is prepared for the intense atmosphere of Celtic Park and aims to etch his name into club folklore by delivering a standout performance against Celtic. Following a comfortable 3-0 victory over their rivals in the Premier Sports Cup at Ibrox, Pandur acknowledges that the upcoming match at Parkhead will present a significantly different challenge.

Pandur drew parallels with Rangers legends like Andy Goram, Allan McGregor, Stefan Klos, and Chris Woods, who have all built reputations by making crucial saves against Celtic at their home ground. He recognizes that these are the defining moments for a Rangers goalkeeper, where they can truly make their mark.

"I would love it," Pandur stated when asked about the prospect of denying Celtic. "I will for sure give my best to help my team and do everything that’s needed for me to do. The only thing I can control is to give my best and support my team-mates in any way possible."

He also highlighted the invaluable guidance he receives from Allan McGregor, now serving as the club's goalkeeping coach. "I think I am really lucky that I came here and to have him as a coach," Pandur said. "He can give me some of the advice and experiences that he had playing for this club. He has been through it all so I always have someone to ask."

Pandur described his experience of the Old Firm derby at Ibrox as unique. "People can tell you about this derby, but when you step on the pitch and you hear the sound and feel the energy, it’s something different what I have experienced in my life," he commented. "We know it will be different this week, but we are ready."

Despite the significance of the derby, Pandur stressed the importance of every match for Rangers. "It’s big. We obviously know the games against Celtic are the biggest - you have the most to win and the most to lose... But every game for us is equally important because it’s three points."

Reflecting on the team's recent success, Pandur attributed much of it to the strong bond within the squad. "We have good togetherness, everyone knows what they need to do. There is no one who is like a bad guy. Everyone is supporting each other in good and in bad moments," he explained. He noted that the large number of new arrivals in the summer required time to integrate, but believes the team is now clicking.

"I like it in Glasgow, my friends and family and my missus they come all the time and they enjoy it," Pandur added. "Everything is starting to click and when you have good things outside, then you can be good in here."
