The Los Angeles Rams considered a significant trade for Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby during the offseason, according to a report from The Ringer. This pursuit occurred before the Rams finalized their trade for Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett.
Las Vegas was reportedly open to offers for Crosby over the winter. A deal was in place with the Baltimore Ravens, but it fell through due to concerns the Ravens had regarding Crosby's surgically repaired knee. The trade for Garrett by the Rams was completed on June 1, while the discussions involving Crosby and the Ravens took place in early March.
It remains unclear if the Rams would have pursued Garrett had they successfully acquired Crosby. While financially possible, having both players, who play the same position, could have presented redundancy and significant contract challenges for the Rams. Ultimately, the Rams acquired Garrett and also saw Aaron Donald come out of retirement after a two-season hiatus from football. Donald did not travel for the Rams' season opener in Australia but is expected to return soon, further bolstering the team's defensive line.
