Rams Cornerback Jaylen Watson Suffers Shoulder Injury Against Broncos
Watson was carted to the locker room and ruled out for the remainder of the game.
Los Angeles Rams starting cornerback Jaylen Watson was ruled out of Sunday night's game against the Denver Broncos with a right shoulder injury. The injury occurred late in the second quarter at Empower Field at Mile High.
Watson appeared to sustain the injury when his right arm became tangled with a Broncos receiver near the sideline. He immediately signaled for medical attention and remained on the field in visible pain before being helped off. He was subsequently taken to the locker room via cart for further evaluation and X-rays.
The Rams defense had been a dominant force in the first half, holding the Broncos scoreless and building a 16-0 lead. Watson's injury represented a significant blow to their secondary, which had been rebuilt during the offseason. Emmanuel Forbes Jr. entered the game as Watson's replacement, opposite All-Pro cornerback Trent McDuffie. Josh Wallace also saw increased defensive snaps.
The Rams acquired McDuffie and signed Watson in the offseason, with both players having previously won two Super Bowls with the Kansas City Chiefs. The team aimed to strengthen its secondary with these additions to make opposing offenses' nights difficult.
